Time Ticking Away...

I started at the branches last week. I haven't bee in a branch since May 2002. I have forgotten why I loved the branches. I absolutely love working with the members. There can be so much instant gratification in helping someone with their financial needs.

I also forgot how BUSY branches are! I'm used to taking care of errands on my lunch and then eating my lunch at my go here. I didn't eat anything Tuesday and by the time I got stomach was KILLING me! I planned a little better the rest of the week. I also think things will get better when I'm a little faster at loan apps and new accounts.

Going back 40 hours a week has been a bit of an adjustment, finding time to do my housework, homework, laundry, dinner oh and that's right I have two KIDS! Casey has grown so much this week...maybe it's my imagination but he has really doubled in size! We had a lazy morning on Sunday watching a movie and eating breakfast before Cory left to Shanna's and I finished my laundry and went to the store.

This morning when I was driving Jayden to school, I looked down and noticed that at some point between last night and this morning Casey had decided to throw up carrots on my jeans. I decided that I must look simply ravishing with this new accessory. I think it's at times like these when you realize you've gotten to the point in your life where you feel ok with the fact that someone threw up on you and you just don't have the energy or time to turn around and change jeans.

As the sand slips through the hourglass...these are the days of our lives! Ü

Brazilian...not for the faint of heart.

Saturday morning I went in for my first Brazilian bikini wax. My sister has done it a couple of times and really liked the outcome...I thought..hmmm..can't be that bad, right? WRONG!
First, you have to grow out your hair. Now, I'm not OCD or anything but I shave pretty much everyday, legs and bikini area. So five weeks of grow is not only irritating, but basically I felt like amazon woman.
I arrive at Crystal's Skin Care where I usually go for my chemical peels and acne treatments. This time, she directs me into another room with a table full of torture devices and several steaming hot pots of wax. Leaves me with a skinny towel and tells me to take everything off the bottom and straddle the towel. Picture half of a SUMO wrestler's outfit.
She comes back in and proceeds to tell me that I will be helping today! I felt like saying are you kidding?! I'm about to have a heart attack. She takes what looks like a deodorant applicator and rolls it over the very top of my bikini area. Well, the applicator is wax and it pulls on each of those stupid little hairs that have been growing..ouch.
Then she applies the paper over the wax and tells me to bend my leg outwards while pulling my skin as tight as can be. The tighter the better. She then asks me if I'm ready...attempting to take myself to another place I reply...yes. RRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPP....Holy Mother Trucker!!! Yes, I said the F Bomb...yes I said it more than once along with every other swear word. Remember the scene in '40 Year Old Virgin' Yes, I said those kind of words.
I think Laurie said it best when she described it as someone slapping you as hard as they can on that area. The very top of the bikini area and the sides where your legs meet your who-ha. The closer it got to the Netherlands, the less it hurt. If that's possible when you're applying hot liquid magma and proceeding to brutally rip out every hair on that part of your body. Over and over, she applied the wax and ripped it off. She tried to talk to me while ripping to get my mind off of it..didn't work. There were outbursts...a few gasps and I think maybe a tear or two!
Yes, I did the complete Brazilian. The hardest part for me was that someone who is normally working on my face was up close and personal with the total opposite end. The pain of hair removal on that region was the easiest of all. Um, other than the application of HOT WAX...HEEEELLLOOOO!
The whole process took about 20 minutes...probably 9-8 minutes of waxing and the rest taking a break to breath. Afterwards she had me apply oil and then a cooling gel...NICE. It welted after for the rest of the day. Here I am on day 2...LOVING IT! Really just felt like a slight bruise afterwards but no actually bruising. Smooth as a...well you get the picture. Seriously, much smoother than shaving and not wanting to give to much TMI...Cory is a fan.
I think next time (yes, there will be a next time) I will use my numbing gel and see if that helps. She said after your third time, there is 1/3 less hair to remove and isn't near as painful.
So, thanks Crystal...sorry I called you names that started with the F Bomb and ended with something like an itch....LOVE YA!

Who's Birthday? Who Cares!

Last night Jayden wanted to make cupcakes...well I was fresh out of cupcake papers so we did the next best thing..Jayden said 'Mommy, let's make a Birthday Cake!'
I said 'Whose birthday is it?'
Jayden: 'It can be your Birthday and my birthday!"
So we made a delicious birthday cake, complete with sprinkles, two candles and a lovely rendition of 'The Birthday Song' Of course, Jayden blew out both of our candles and wished for Daddy to read books at bedtime!
(I wished for bedtime to come sooner rather than later! One of us got our wish, bet you can't guess who?)

Little Helpers..

While my lovely sister Laurie, her hubster James and my parents are out crusing and boozing in CABO(well at least my parents are) I had Brynne for a night. Kayli came over with her on Monday afternoon and we baked!

We made muddy buddies...(Thanks Pooba) and reese's peanut butter cups...(Thanks Grandma's Desserts)

They were very good helpers and I took some of the bounty to work to share so I didn't eat it all. I am watching my know, watching them as they go in my mouth and straight to my ASS!!

Twice Bitten....

Last week, I got a call from the school telling me to pick up Jayden from the Principal's office. Yes, you can imagine the thoughts that went through my mind!

Turns out, after countless warnings not to rock back in chairs, the kind of warnings that kids should oh I don't know...LISTEN TOO!!!

He rocked back in the chair at school and fell backwards and proceeded to bite his tongue...pretty deep! You can't tell in the picture, but there are two HUGE holes along with an outline of all of his teeth in his tongue.

Hate to tell you buddy but what kind of mom would I be if I didn't say... I TOLD YA SO!!

Ode to ShOrT StAcK...

I was stopping by another blog 'My Life as I Know It' sponsored by SITS . I joined SITS about three weeks ago and it’s a group of women who support each other’s blog’s by leaving comments. If you have time, take a peek…it’s sooooo worth it.

Any-whoo! One of the posts by this lovely lady was a tribute to her BFF. They have a long distance relationship but remain close through the years. Well, this inspired me to spotlight one of my very good friends…

I met Kallie 8 years ago when I started my very first day at Pro Pac Labs, Inc. I’ve loved her since that first day! Here are some reasons why ‘short stack’ is my very special friend.
· Odd's are stacked in our FAVOR!
She is at least 2 feet shorter than me…someone that short can’t help but be CUTE! Hence the name...short stack! Seriously though, I feel like a giant next to her…especially with heels on.
· Good ol' fashion..ENVY
She is a WONDERFUL mother…two girls and one boy to call her mom. Anytime I talk to her, she is doing something special for her kids. (Her and the hubby just finished a room for her oldest as a surprise for Christmas!)
· Ties that Bind
She is super close to her mom, just like me
· Empathy
Any situation I’m going through, she’s been through it and has advice
· Moments of Hysteria
Her laugh is infectious…we had so much fun working together..oh the jokes we shared back and forth on IM! (One word…EPCOT CENTER)
· DoUbLe tRoUbLe
Our sons were born within 3 months of each other and are equally as naughty.
· Forgiveness

We’ve been through so much and she still loves me. Probably the two that top the charts are:
~ I laid her off
~ My son got her son kicked out of pre-school
· Devotion

She was there for me when I went through the absolute worst years of my first marriage, and was there when I got divorced.
· Bliss

She was the first one I called when Cory asked me out on our first date, one of the first to know we got engaged, attended our wedding ceremony and one of the first to know about both of my pregnancies.
· Embarrassment

When I rode my Harley to her house for the first time and dumped it in her driveway in front of all of her neighbors, she didn’t make fun of me. (Well not too much at least)
· Lost Control

She was in the car with me when I made eye contact with the most pitiful excuse for a woman there is.
· Support

When I needed someone to help me with the kids on Fridays with my new job, she jumped right on board with no questions asked.
· Trust

I trust her with anything
· Connections

We can go without speaking for more than a month and pick right up from where we started.

Bottom line, when it comes to friends she is the crème of the crop! Thank you Kallie for all the laughs, helping me through the tears and just being you. You are a very special woman, mother, wife and friend and I’m a better person just for knowing you. If you have someone special in your life…don’t waste a chance to tell them what they mean to you!

One potato..two potato..three potato..STOP!!

Sunday morning, I decided to put a roast in the crock pot for dinner. I'm not the most traditional mom, but I do like to have a nice dinner on Sunday's. When I got home from Church, (yes I did attempt to go. Did I make it the whole day? NO! Did Jayden yell Jesus Christ! in the middle of the sacrament prayer...Yes!)

Anyway, I digress.

So I got home from Church, laid CCB (Casey Chunk Butt) down for a nap and started to peel the potato's to join the roast in the crock pot. After I was done, I saw the peelings in the sink like I do every time I peel and the thought occurred to me that I SHOULD be picking those up and throwing them away. Did I? NO. Even after I read my friend Kallie's blog that she blew up her disposal with potato peels and even after Cory told me TIME AND TIME AGAIN...NOT to put peels in the disposal.

It was like I had two little people on my shoulder's. One with a halo saying 'Put them in the're going to get in trouble if you don't. The other with a pitchfork saying 'Suck 'em down the drain!! You've done it a million times and NOTHING ever has happened'.

With it being Sunday and all, of course I listened to the pitchfork. I figured Jayden's outburst in Church already has me on the bus to the hot spot. So, down the drain they go.

Fast forward 3 hours.

I am doing dishes and notice that no water is draining...ah HELL!!!! I've plugged the disposal. Now I have to confess to CORY who has already told me not to do this a million times that I put peels down the disposal and he has to unplug it.

'Babe, somethings wrong with the disposal.'

Cory: 'Why, what's it doing?'

'Well, it's what it's NOT draining'

'What did you put in it?'

'Oh, just the usual'

'Kim, what did you put in it'

'Maybe some potato peels'

'I've told you a MILLION times not to do that!'

'You have?'

Sighing now as he gets the plunger 'Why don't you ever listen?'

'Well, what fun would that be?! Did I mention YOUR son yelled 'Jesus Christ in the middle of Church?'

Confessions of a Shopaholic...

Yes, you read that right! My latest obsession is Kohls. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! When you use your Kohls card, you get an additional 15-30% off your already clearance items. They have fantastic selection...ok, they might be lacking in the shoe department but hello, that is why DSW was born!

I went today to get Cory some more work tee's, I found them for $9.99 a's like crack cocaine in the veins. (or at least that's what the movies make it look like!) They also had Carter's 50% off and CCB (Casey Chunk Butt) is approaching 6 months old and already fits tight in his 9 month outfits. (Speaking of him, he is still screaming in his crib...seriously..give it up..I'm NOT going to come and get you!)

I also got Jayden some Levi's..they were buy 1, get one 1/2 off. Not forgetting about mommy dearest, I found me some hypo-allergenic earrings (Yes, Monica now stop nagging me!! Ü) a necklace and two cute sweaters.

Approaching the checkout line, they have a sign for scratch tickets at the counter where yours truly got an additional 15% OFF!! So, all in all it was a good day.

BTW - Chopped my hair off, pictures coming soon!

Breaking Up is Hard To Do...

Last week I officially accepted a new job...Assistant Manager at the Harrison branch of AFCU. I'm so excited, maybe nervous, well maybe both. I'm working on my 4th year in Corporate Training and I LOVE to train.

My favorite topics are Crucial Conversations/Crucial Confrontations. I've been a certified trainer of both and was introduced to the content about 3 years ago. I don't care who you are, these two trainings are a MUST. If you don't attend the training, then at least read the book. Your task after reading, to let me know if it makes any kind of an impact on you.

I think the part I love most about training is helping someone to improve. The great thing about it is ~ while I'm helping them improve, I'm learning at the same you see the greatness of the cycle yet?! So, even though I'm closing the chapter in the training department I hope to open another and continue to serve others, influence and support my team.
Ever since I began at AFCU in 1998 give or take a few years of sebatacle at other companies, my goal has always been to be in management. I really feel like I'm finally progressing towards that goal. I'm excited to prove to myself and to others that not only can I be an assistant, but I'll be A DAMN GOOD assistant manager!

So, I have two weeks left in Corporate Training. Have you ever noticed that once you give notice to a job, it's almost like a prolonged break up? You tell your boss your leaving, which is kind of like rejection. Then you spend time explaining how it's not them, it's you. All of the people who work around you either ask a lot of questions about why you're leaving, act excited or don't really say anything at all. You don't start any new projects, you basically are getting things cleaned up for the next person to take over. It's like a bizarre limbo stage. The whole time...the excitement for the new job grows.

So ~ raise your glasses with me, here's to new beginnings, a fresh start and so much more to learn!

One job I'll NEVER give notice (ok, so I'm sure I've threatened but never followed through) is MOM! No matter what happens at work, good bad or ugly...I get to come home the best 3 men ever! And yes ladies...these cheeks are ALL MINE!!!

DaTe NiGhT..

Dinner at Hooters

FREEZING at the Races

My handsome Husband

Craig getting a feel of his own personal set of Hooters

Last night we went out with the Flinders. Jaime and I got tickets from AFCU for the snowmobile races at Rio Tinto. We decided to surprise the boys with dinner at Hooters in Midvale. They thought we were going to the Outback...he he We're so sneaky! I actually recommend it, Jaime and I got to talk about work and the boys had constant entertainment Ü Most of the girls weren't that fabulous, but we all decided there was one really pretty girl. Ok, maybe it was just me. I mean c'mon, she was HOT!

We then left for the races and it was SOOOOO cold! People were in snow boots, and hats and all kinds of warm clothes. I managed with thermo bottoms and scarf and gloves..the Flinders were smart enough to bring warm boots. We had a great time and actually there were some neat tricks and races. We had a fun time and Jaime ~as always~ made me laugh so hard!

I'm so glad we have fun friends to go out with, thanks Flinders!!

My Little Life

Now, to how this works:
-- Copy the questions and answer them on your blog.
-- Grab the Mcklinky code (if you would like, of course)
-- Link up!
-- Remember to link back to Mama M

Let the answering begin!

1. What's your "comfort food"?
Any type of SNACK! I love candy, chips, baked goods anything SuGaR basically. Whether I'm watching T.V., working or stressed..I love a good snack.

2. Do you send Thank You's (handwritten or email)?
All the time! I haven't always done this, but in the last two years or so I've started. After interviews, when a neighbor does something nice or someone just goes out of their way. I thought I love it so much when I receive them...why not give a few out!

3. If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?
Survivor! I'd love to be stranded on a gorgeous island and not be around SNACKS to lose a few pounds!

4. What is your favorite online recipe site?
Grandma's Desserts of course!!!

5. If you had to choose: "Friends" or "Seinfeld"?
FRIENDS! No doubt! I was so sad to see that show end, I felt like I was a part of the gang after all those years.

Has anyone seen my Mother Handbook?

I'm driving Jayden to school on Monday morning, enjoying my cup of coffee and listening to the morning show.

Jayden is having his usual conversation with anyone who will listen. We're cruising along I-15 and I take the Riverdale Rd exit.

For those of you familiar, it has a little hill that puts you right on Riverdale Rd. Of course, my lead foot is in gear so we go over the hill with some speed. This is what I hear from Jayden:

'Mom, my wiener just did something'

I'm thinking to myself 'Did he just say what I think he said?!' Second thought 'Well make it STOP doing something'

Actual words 'Hmm' then I do what any mother would...ignore it.

Jayden: 'Mom, it moved. My wiener just moved when you went on that hill.' giggling to himself 'It tickles'

Me: 'Did you see that big dump truck?!'

This whole time I'm thinking, what the hell am I supposed to say to that!? I can only imagine him walking into Pre-School to tell Mrs. Candy ~ my moms car makes my wiener move! Oh my goodness...where did I put that Mother Handbook? Oh that's right....

Another year has come and gone! We celebrated another quiet New Years, seems to be the tradition since we've started our family ☺ We put the kids to bed at the normal time and watched a movie. I was technically awake at midnight rocking Casey.

Tonight, I decided to start a new tradition. I made a yummy pot roast dinner in the crock pot all day, used my new dishes from Thanksgiving and we had a candlelight dinner. Jayden asked why we were having a 'picnic'

We toasted in the new year and each said what we'd like to do better at in 2010.
Kim: 'To be a better mom, have more Mommy/Daddy time, finish my bachelor's and to take advantages of the many opportunities coming my way.'
Cory: 'Be nicer' ~ Short and sweet right?!
Jayden: 'Have more toys and trick or treat'

Jayden got to blow out the candle after we ate, he wished for more dinner and for baby Casey not to cry so much!

I thought, what better way to celebrate our busy 2009 than with pictures! We celebrated a lot of 'firsts' in 2009, it was full of ups and downs and all arounds and we loved every second of it! Here's to another great year and growing together along the way.
