SnOw DaYs

For their birthdays I got Cory & Jayden snow tubes, after living through Jayden rolling them through the house, we decided to take Jayden out on Sunday.

When we got up, I was so tired from all the running around, cleaning and the party that I got up, pulled my hair up and made it to the recliner to sleep for another 3 hours. I usually don't nap, but I was so physically exhausted my body just shut down. Cory was so great to get Jayden breakfast and lunch!

Cory had to go into work for a couple hours and when he got home we headed to the park. Jayden had a blast, Cory would take him down and then Jayden would say 'Mommy turn!' and we switched back and forth. He was full of smiles for his first trip down the hills.

After the sledding (about 40 minutes) we headed to petsmart to get the girls some food and then to McDonald's for a gourmet meal...I tried the McRib because Cory raves about it all the time. Let me just say YUCK! I thought it was very gross...so Jayden had mine and I had his cheeseburger. Sorry for those who like it, but I will never eat that again!

BUDDIES...








Friday night we had my friends kids (Kenley & Dax) over for a couple of hours while they went to dinner. Jayden loves Dax and Kenley is so cute! They entertained us with a little dress up, kids have quite the imagination!

Thanks for letting the kids come for a visit Kallie, they were great fun!

Another milestone....

We celebrated Jayden's 3rd & Cory's 31st birthday this last Saturday. It was a great time, busy though!

We had just over 25 people, Cory made delicious homemade Clam Chowder, Chicken Noodle & Chili. After feeding the masses, we watched Jayden open all of his presents (enough to stock Toys R Us!)

I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful, loving family and in-laws! Jayden is one spoiled little man, but he is equally spoiled with love!

'Tis the Season...

For Holiday dinners!

This last weekend, we had our good friends Lance, Sarah and little Renee over for dinner.
We've known them for a long time and usually were found on bike trips (that's Harley's Melissa :) or just having fun with our parents (Lance's parents are best buddies with mine). Since we've both had little ones, time seems to fly by and the only time we see each other is during Christmas.

It was so much fun to visit with them and catch up on all the news. Renee loved Jayden's playroom..she wasn't too sure about Mr. Hyper himself but really who is?! They stayed till late and I got to read Jayden and Renee some stories. We exchanged gifts for the kiddies and Jayden lucked out with some neat trucks he loved instantly.

Fashion crisis


With the blustery snow storm this last weekend, Cory decided it was time to break out the old snowblower..a favorite past time of Mr. Jayden's.

Jayden hasn't recieved his new snowsuit & boots that my very close source at the north pole tells me might be coming..he he .. we had to use his suit from last year (thanks Jenn :) Well, it wasn't quite warm enough so I 'altered' it!!

I added my fancy, fluffy gloves as well as my lovely pink scarf to keep his neck warm and sent him into the bathroom to see what Cory had to say!

Cory: "Jayden, does your mother realize your a boy?"
"Kim, he is NOT leaving the house like that, C'MON!!!"

Needless to say ladies, Jayden DID go outside like that and let it be noted, the neck and hands of my precious little BOY were very warm the entire time!!

Some kids need options....

A couple of weeks ago when I got home from work, Jayden came into the bedroom and asked if he could have some 'sillrel' (cereal). I told him to go pick out which one he wanted and I would get it.

Upon hearing noise which wouldn't come from just one box of cereal, this is what I found in the kitchen...


Jayden then tells me 'Look mommy, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!'
Seriously, how can I get mad for the mess when he counts perfectly??!!!

Potty Training bLuEs....

Somebody, anybody HHHHEEELLLLPPPP!!!!

Ok, I feel better! Jayden is not doing so hot at potty training. We've been working on it for just over a month and it was great at first. He would go every 20 minutes, #1 & #2. Then we moved to every hour. He even got where he would tell us, then it went down hill a little.

He seems to just be tired or frustrated or just plain stubborn. The last week he has been wet everytime and won't tell us he has to go. Pull up's are just not that cheap and finally his daycare provider suggested we give him a break until he's ready. I talked to Laurie and she said that seemed to be the trick for the twins.

So, needless to say we're back in diapers. :( Jayden is so strong willed, I guess I'll have to give up my 'control factor' and wait for him to tell me when he's ready. He'll be 3 in two weeks and I've heard boys take a little longer than girls.

I'm here to tell you, no matter what the stage is, it seems to get harder each time. Especially when my child is so determined and independant.

The only thing that keeps me going is that sweet little boy that makes brief appearances every once in awhile! Like the one that says:

'I lof you momma'
'Soree mommy'
'Mommy, I don wann her dat no more' (refering to my singing)
'Daddy keep me safe, like Nemo daddy?'
When I come home, he comes running down the hall screaming 'My MOOOOMMMMMMMYYYY'

Ok, I guess I'll make it now :)

Kids say the darndest things!!

For those of you who know my family, my sister Laurie and her family moved to Laramie for Jame's work. This is a story off her blog and I thought it was too cute not to share...on Thanksgiving at my moms Cory and I were singing the song from Madagascar to the kids. Laurie sent me a text this morning to check out her blog and to remember that Harrison has never seen Madagascar!

James had to work today- so I was on my own at church. Harrison is always a challenge and most days I think he might just be the death of me. The older 3 are suppose to be helpful- but most of the time they just egg him on.Midway through testimony meeting(we were sitting in the back on the first row of chairs-remembering that this ward is not large and the benches are only sparsely filled so any noise is well-noticed)

Harrison lays on the floor and starts doing the centipede on his back lifting his butt up and down in the air singing in a not-so-quiet voice, "I like to move it, move it- I like to move it, move it." We provided quite the entertainment.Just another day in the life- I guess.

YuCk!!!


Last night after watching movies, (Wanted & Tropic Thunder) we were headed upstairs when we heard something in the wall....
Clean Version
Cory: "Did you just hear that?"
(Scratching inside the wall)
Kim: "Umm, what the heck was that?"
Cory: "Sounds like a mouse is stuck"
(Kim finds a chair to stand on)
Kim: "What are YOU going to do?"
(Cory laughing and opening the utility room to see if he can find it)
Cory: "Probably scream like a girl when it runs out at me!"
Kim: "If you scream like a girl, I'll pass out and then we'll both be in trouble!!"
We had some traps left over from last year when there was mouse droppings on the patio in the backyard. So he set two of them, and after a night of mouse nightmares...we had a little surprise in the morning! GROSS!! He found two openings in the wall from when we finished the basement that lead out into the garage and after further inspection found a bag of food for the pond fish with a nice big hole in it. Looks like Fievel the mouse and his friends have been living the big life in our garage and made it's way into the basement. Needless to say Cory spent today patching holes and making sure no more mice come to visit.

7 Memories

OK, I'm getting all the tags accomplished tonight!

#1 -Finding out I was pregnant. We had taken two at home tests and they were both negative. Cory and I were pretty bummed. I made an appointment at my OB and was waiting for the awful news that we would never be able to have kids (dramatic I know). They made me give a urine sample and as I sat in the waiting room feeling this heavy weight on my shoulders, Ann (nurse) came in with a wheel like paper and said 'You're definitely pregnant, when was your last period". I don't think I spoke for an eternity! I told her and she whisked me to a ultrasound and showed me the first picture of our 'little peanut'. It was surreal, I couldn't even wait to tell Cory I was bawling on the phone and had to tell him.
#2-Proposal. Cory told me to pack a bag, that we were going overnight somewhere. He left the bags in the driveway and kept pacing around with his mom. All of sudden he whipped me around and gave me a big sloppy kiss and when I turned around there was a limo in the driveway! It took us to my favorite hotel The Grand America. We went to the room and it was covered in rose petals..sweet huh? It gets better...so then the phone rings and Cory says 'Our ride is ready, let's go'. We went down to the lobby and I said 'Look honey, someone has a horse & carriage..I LOVE those!' He whispered, 'I know babe, it's yours'. We went out to the front drive and I was so captivated by the horse he had to turn me to him 'Focus, Kim'. He knelt on one knee and something to the effect 'Kimberli, we've courted together for the last 7 months and I'd like to take it to the next step. Will you make me the happiest man in this world and be my wife?' While he was asking me, there were camera's going off (later to find out that was his family!) Of course I said YES! The carriage took us to where we had our first date Bucca De Beppo. It was amazing and fairytale.
#3-Hawaii with the family, there were many scary moments on the trip but overall it was great to be with the whole family. My favorite was seeing the whales with Cory and Jayden.
#4 - Cory surprised me the Christmas we had Jayden by having my Harley custom painted. He had been sneaking the parts of my bike and replacing it with other stuff under the cover so I wouldn't notice. He brought it in on Christmas Eve in parts and I screamed...'IS THAT MY BIKE??" I cried, it was great. My favorite, purple with ghost flames.
#5 - Cruise - Cory took me on my first Cruise to the Bahama's. It was the best vacation ever, there was always something to do, dancing, eating, games you name it. The food was to die for and we had romantic nights with the formal dinners and holding each other on the deck feeling the cool crisp ocean air. I will always remember that trip with my husband.
#6 - Having Jayden. I was so so lucky to have my sister there to hold my hand and talk me and Cory through the delivery. He was stubborn of course and his heart rate went really slow because the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, I remember when they placed that lifeless body on my stomach and I couldn't breathe. They took him to the other side of the room and gave him oxygen until he cried. The sweetest sound I've ever heard.
#7 - Any and all memories with my family. I am so lucky to have the parents and sisters I have in my life. With all the differences we have, the one constant is our love for each other. They've supported me through the most difficult times in my life and helped me see it through to the other side. They support Cory and I, always without a doubt and we have the funnest time together. I truly am a lucky person and not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for the love of my family and the life my parents gave me.

6 Quirks Tag

Hmmm..coming up with 6 weird quirks about me, what a challenge ;)

#1 -Chewing food: I absolutely hate it when people make noises with their mouth while eating food. Seriously, could come crawling out of my skin. Cory does it when he eats certain foods and it's all I can do not to scream!!! Please, please chew with your mouth closed for the sanity of those around you.
#2 -Face: I have to wash my face every night. My routine is I use make up remover on my eyes, wash my face with cleanser, use a scrub and then my acne lotion. Takes me about 5 minutes every night and drives my husband nuts that I do it EVERY night without fail. I can't remember the last time I slept with my make up on.
#3 - Cleaning: It used to be my car that was clean all the time, at least once a week. Since we've had Jayden it's moved not so much to my car but to our house. I clean every weekend, usually scrubbing bathrooms, dusting the whole nine yards. My floor especially...sweep then use my hoover floor mate. I can't even walk in my house without socks because I'll have to clean it two hundred times a day. BTW - Dishes done every night, I have nightmares if they stay out..
#4 - I absolutely love circus peanuts! For those who don't know they are marshmallow type candy shaped like a peanut..YUMMM!! (Morgan, I hope you're laughing!!)
#5 - Horses: I have been in love with horses since I was a baby. I have no idea where it came from, I've never owned a horse but have been lucky enough to ride some. My dream..my life list is to compete in a rodeo barrel race event..don't have to win just have to run once. Trust me, it will be done!
#6 - I love to be surprised. My very favorite is to be surprised by Cory with anything, it could be a date or even a night with home cooked meal as long as it's a surprise I LOVE it!!

Movie Day





We took Jayden today to see his first movie in the theatre...Madagascar, at the Syracuse 6 theatres.
It was so fun being the 'nerdy' parents and taking our picture while we waited for the movie to start. Jayden doesn't sit real well at during movies but we thought he'd be excited with the big movie screen.
He was antsy throughout the entire movie and about drove us to the brink of insanity...but we made it to the end!

Bonus Night




Saturday night we headed down to the Salt Palace for our work bonus night. Because it was the same night as the 'Holy War' between U of U & BYU. We had to pick a team and you can see which team we voted for....YEAH UTAH!!!
I'm not a big fan of T-Shirts, so I dressed mine up with jewelry of course and some cute strappy high heels :)
I love working for the same company as my mom, we get to do fun stuff with them for work. As you can see in my parents picture my father wasn't as excited as we were!

Cory's grandma asked him to take down a big tree at the house that Shanna is renting. So, of course he found the biggest lift in Utah to play with Saturday afternoon. Jayden went with Cory to get it and was really excited until they got it out and then he changed his level of excitement :)

He supported his dad from safely on the ground, and Cory and his uncle Mark took down most of the tree. You can see from some of the pictures there was a lot of Coca-cola involved!

Jayden was bummed that the 'tractor' couldn't come home to our house!

School Time...hard times

As I continue through my effort to obtain my bachelor's degree, this class was a struggle just as the others have been. I'm constantly struggling with my balancing act between wife, mother, friend, full time employment and student.

Cory has been so good to work with my class nights and extra time on the weekends helping me with Jayden. I know this is taking a toll on me and my family. Just the other day, Cory picked Jayden up from pre-school and they called me on the phone. This is the conversation:

Jayden: "Hi Mommy!"
Me: "Hi baby."
Jayden" "Mommy go bye bye gain?"
Me: "No, sweetheart mommy come home tonight."
Jayden: "Oh, mommy no school?"
Me: "No, not tonight that's later."
Jayden: "Mommy come home soon?"
Me: "Yes, babe. I'll be home from work in a bit"
Jayden: "Ok, mommy two minutes!"

As I hung up the phone I had tears in my eyes. I feel that if I stay home extra hours, I'm sacrificing my job and if I stay extra at work I'm losing precious time with my son that can never be gained again. Invites with friends don't come as often because my answer is usually no, and when I do go, I'm giving up time with my husband to keep our relationship thriving.

I keep pushing, harder and harder because I know so many have come before me and succeeded, my mother one of those and so many woman after me that will ask these same questions. One thing that keeps me going is my family, the ones who I'm working for to give them a better life. My mother always tells me 'I worked full time from when you were a baby and when you look at me today what do you see?' My answer is always filled with love, respect and admiration. I've learned so much from her and continue to follow in her footsteps. She then tells me 'One day, a long time from now you can ask Jayden that same question, I have full faith that he'll answer the same' I can only hope to be so lucky.

To make a long post even longer, I finished yet another class and received an 'A'. Onto the next class tomorrow night and the journey continues on.....thanks for listening.

I got told....

We are just settling in for a little 'mommy & daddy time' tonight after a long day with the naughty personality of Jayden's. (I've decided he's got several...kind of like Dr. Jeckel/Mr. Hyde) I thought I'd share a funny conversation we had tonight....

After dinner, Cory gave Jayden a bath and then came into the kitchen and this is how the conversation went:

Cory: "Jayden, give me a kiss so mommy can put you night-night"

Jayden as he is pointing to the sink: "Noooo, mommy do dishes! Daddy put me night-night!!"

Right about now, Cory is trying to hold in a laugh until he bursts into hysterics!

Me: "Jayden, let's get a few things straight. #1 - never tell your mother when to do the dishes (they were already done btw) #2 - I'll put you to bed whenever I want!"

A couple minutes later, Cory is putting Jayden to bed and I'm shaking my head at all the fun things yet to come in life!!!

Who said girls can't shoot?



That's right ladies! Nothing like a little anger venting with an over/under shotgun!!! We went up to our friends this weekend, Craig & Jaime Flinders. They have property in Morgan, so basically we shot guns for about an hour in their backyard! We had a great time!

I was a little intimidated at first, but after the first shot... I was hooked. I didn't do an actual count but Cory will vouch that I did hit more than half my pigeons :) My shoulder doesn't hurt too bad today, I had a lot of padding on with two big coats. Cory was teasing me that I had to curl my hair to go shooting, but like I told Cory, anything worth doing is worth doing it dressed to impress! :)

CHEP...


For those of you who knew me in my 'previous' life, that seems so far away and almost not a reality anymore (which is a very good thing!) remember my first baby, my black lab Chep. He was such an 'old spirit', he had so much love in his eyes and heart. A 'thick' dog by many terms thick in fat and thick headed. He was always excited to see me and kept me company many times. He loved to be anywhere where I was and loved rides in the car. If you were on the couch, he was on your lap..all 90 pounds of him. It was so hard to leave him behind, and even harder not to see him everyday. I think about him often, and was informed this weekend that his time had finally come..he past away. I hope that he remembered me and felt my love when it was his time to go. I found this poem and thought it fit. So, here's to you my Chep. May you always know the warmth of my hand, the love in my heart and be in peace knowing how much love you brought to your mom's life. I miss you.

TrIcK Or TrEaT!!

Halloween 2008

We had so much fun this year! Jayden was the itsy bitsy spider, and for me I reached in the depths of my creativity and was a biker!!! I amaze myself some days ;)

I worked for 1/2 day, and then got Jayden from pre-school. They had a fun halloween party that morning and made cookies and treats with fun pictures. They also had a mummy wrapping contest.

We visited Daddy's work and did some trick or treating at mommy's. It was soooo fun chasing my little 'devil' spider throughout the operations center..my apologies to anyone who was injured in the process.

We stopped by Grandma Diane's and walked the puppies to Grandpa & Grandma Stanley's. We had dinner at Grandma Jo's, she made yummy homemade soups. Cory and I took Jayden around a couple cul-de-sac's and he actually did really good. He rang the doorbell's (sometimes more than once, I'm sure it was a minor seizure of the fingers) and got a lot of candy. We made it home around 7:30 pm, just in time to hand out some candy of our own and then crashed in bed!

It was a long, fun day. It's days where we get to spend time with Jayden and the rest of our family that makes me grateful for what I have.

We missed the Younger's this year, but it sounds like they had a great time as usual!!

Today I took my niece Kayli Jo out for a day of pampering, she got her first perm with Aunt Kimmie :) We took her to my fav hair girl (Holla...Christeena @ Joys!!) She did so good in the chair for 3 long hours! She has beautiful hair and it really needed a pick me up, with her new do she can wake up, wet her hair add some mousse and off to school. She is the only girl with 3 brothers so she doesn't get a lot of girl time. We had a good morning together and then we went and got Jayden to join us for a gourmet lunch at McDonalds. I like being the fun aunt who gets to spoil every now and again. Aunt Kimmie loves you, my beautiful little 'KJ'!
